The Royal Deeside Walking Festival takes place during the last week of May. The Aboyne and Deeside Festival is held from late June to mid-August and the Aboyne Games, considered one of the best in Scotland, is on the first Saturday in August. Over the years, the Games have attracted thousands of visitors to witness the annual show of Scottish culture in one of the most scenic parts of Aberdeenshire.
Aboyne has a number of amenities, including a recreation centre housing a library, swimming pool, fitness room and theatre/cinema. The village green is used for picnics and hosts rugby and football matches and boasts a well equipped children's play area.
